Opera Blue Hotel

The pool area was quite nice, but it faced the main street, only a few meters away. The main staff were very polite. The rest of the hotel was in awful condition. The view from the side of our room looked onto local homes and rooftops covered in rubbish. The room was dark and dingy, with walls that badly needed cleaning. The bathroom was the worst I've seen and should have been condemned. The shower door could slide out of its runner, the chrome soap basket was peeling and dangerous, water leaked from the toilet onto the slippery floor, and the shower wouldn't drain. We asked for a double bed but got two singles pushed together, and the sofa bed was stained and disgusting. Reception said there were no other rooms. We arrived exhausted after being awake since 1am and went to bed at 10pm, but students in the hotel got extremely loud at 10.30pm. I called reception three times, but night security did nothing. I contacted the tour operator, who called the hotel, and things eventually quieted down around 12.30am. The noise started again at 7.30am and continued until the students left. The next night was fine, but on Sunday the people next door turned their TV up to maximum at 11pm. I called night reception three or four times and got no response, so I went down myself. The staff member struggled to understand me, and although he came upstairs and knocked a couple of times, he gave up. I suggested with hand signs that he call the room, but he seemed reluctant. It finally went quiet around 12.30 or 1am, though I don't know who solved it. Breakfast was awful and cold. I don't know how this is called a four star hotel. At best, I'd say two stars. It needs to close for a complete refurbishment and be taken off travel agents' portfolios.
