Silver Beach

Hotel manager Vasilis made our stay lovely with his Greek hospitality and all his helpful tips. The hotel is simple, but it had everything we needed. We highly recommend it and hope to come back.

XXX The room was tiny and smelled really bad. This is the most expensive 2 star hotel in Europe, with no facilities at all, and breakfast came with a sewage truck there every day. The manager of Aktis Patmos hotel was rude. You have to check in and out at Aktis hotel because Silver beach has no reception desk. Even if you're willing to pay an extra 50 euros a day, you're not allowed to use Aktis hotel's beach umbrellas when it has too many guests. Silver beach itself has no beach facilities. Think carefully and check the latest comments before coming to Silver beach hotel. The older reviews aren't true anymore.

I stayed for a week in July 2022 at Silver Beach (SB) for wedding celebrations at Patmos. It's part of the Patmos Akti (PA) complex, and they share all the facilities. The room cost 160€/night, including the 15% discount the wedding couple secured, and I paid the full week in advance in March 2022. It was non-refundable, but that was the cheaper option. Even so, the room didn't justify the price. There were some good points: two balconies, though neither had a particularly good view; welcoming, accommodating staff; and two comfortable Coco-Mat mattresses. The on-site taverna had good food, and you could pay to use the beds and umbrellas for swimming in front of the hotel. But the room, including the bathroom, needed renovation, and the breakfast didn't justify the 160€/night either. They charged for mineral water, and this wasn't always made clear. I'm an early riser and don't care much for breakfast, so I went to the PA bar for coffee once it opened. On the third day, while I was waiting for my freddo cappuccino @6€, the waiter kindly offered me water. I hadn't asked for it, but the 1.5€ was charged anyway. It's not about the extra cost, which I can afford, but about being misled. I wouldn't stay at SB again. I'd choose a slightly cheaper hotel in Skala, where I'd know what to expect and have more nearby options, or one of the upscale apartments near SB. Some have beautiful apartments with Greta views, excellent service, and costs that can be shared among 3-4 people. To me, these hotels aiming for upper-class status in the middle don't end up being worth the money.

If you love bays and sea views, this is a great choice, right by the water with a lovely outlook. It's been renovated recently and feels modern. We were initially concerned by comments from before the renovation, but found it offered the best value for the price.
