We booked the house for three months but ended up staying just one week, losing A LOT of money. I don't usually write long negative reviews, but all of this happened in eight days, and the owner's behavior was unacceptable. The tenancy contract was a must for me because my employer required it, and the owner had confirmed we could get one. In the end, because we both communicated the details poorly, it turned out that wasn't possible. NO ONE TO BLAME HERE. After that, though, a new problem came up each day. We'd said from the start we were working remotely from the house, but the Wi-Fi was non-existent on the first floor and very poor on the second. The kitchen was VERY dirty: there were moldy dishes, and all the cutlery was sitting in the sink waiting to be washed. The washing machine broke on the first day during a short circuit. The owner kept blaming us, although connecting a laptop, a radio, and a washing machine was enough to cause the short circuit. We got severe bites on our backs and arms from the mattress, probably bed bugs. The owner accused us of bringing the parasites from elsewhere, saying it was definitely from Peru because she knew we'd been there. We'd returned from Peru a month earlier and had never had anything like this before Petrokefalo. The worst part was how VERY SUSPICIOUS the owner became after these problems. Communicating with her was a nightmare, and this suspicion was CONSTANT. I asked why the gate to the other washing machine wasn't open. It was open, but it was very, very hot, so I needed a lot of strength and cold water to open it. She reacted as if I'd asked her for a transplant. She also screamed at us on the phone and hung up before we could speak, even threatening to kick us out because Airbnb's payment came in late and she thought we were trying to scam her. She had to call the desinsection company and kindly offered us one of her adjacent houses to stay in. Since we were worried about the bed bugs, I thought it made sense not to move all our bags straight into another house. We only took our clothes over to wash in the new house, which had a washing machine, and planned to move once everything was clean. When she saw our things were still there, she got angry and accused us of "using two houses." Whatever that was supposed to mean. We eventually moved everything without taking care, as she basically kicked us into the other house. Then she accused us of leaving the oven on, even though we hadn't used it at any point and she'd been cleaning it just minutes earlier. When I said she may have touched the starting knob by accident while cleaning, she struggled to come up with an excuse. At the end, she also tried to make us pay the electricity bill, though it was never mentioned in the listing or told to us at check-in.
