Memories Apartments

We paid £23 a night after our holiday company cancelled our paid accommodation just three days before departure, so we arrived with very basic expectations. We were there in mid-July 2020, during Covid, when the bar was closed and only two other apartments seemed occupied. With just 13 apartments, it probably never gets especially busy. The standout was the view. From our fourth-floor apartment we could see more than 180 degrees of sea and surrounding area, and even the first-floor places had clear views. We caught both sunrise and sunset. It may be the best apartment view we've ever had. The balcony was shaded around 1-3pm, which was lovely for lunch outside. The main bedroom had air conditioning and a safe, and the balcony door had a vented shade, glass door and curtain to block as much light as we wanted. The location worked well too: about three minutes on foot to the nearest bar, with plenty more just beyond it, but far enough from the strip to avoid night noise. The main road is alongside the apartments, though it wasn't too busy and crossing into town was easy. The rooms were plain and a bit dated, but clean and functional, with a two-ring tabletop electric cooker, sink, kettle and toaster. There are steps up to the apartments, so it wouldn't suit someone elderly or with limited mobility. For us, the view and location easily outweighed that.

The pool was clean and open all day, and the rooms were okay. I have a bad leg and asked for a ground-floor room four weeks before we travelled because stairs are difficult for me. We were given a room near the top anyway. We spent the first three nights going up and down before they sorted it out, and that only happened after we complained firmly.

It's right across from a busy road. The owner is really nice and puts in a lot of effort, though, and the place is fair for what it costs. Go if a low price matters to you, just don't expect anything luxurious.

It suited us because it's right by the Malia strip. Feels more like an 18-30 party hotel, so don't come expecting luxury, but the price was good.
