FOS Hydra residence

The building has been beautifully refurbished, and the new hotel has large, well-equipped rooms. The place itself is very nice, and the cafe they suggest for breakfast, Papagalos, is a five-minute walk away. It has good food. The hotel doesn't serve breakfast, even though it seems equipped to do so. The service details were troubling for such an expensive stay. Porter service from the port costs 20 eur for a two-minute walk. We carried our own bags on arrival, but reception is up a long, steep staircase and the rooms require another similar climb. We left our luggage inside the main gate and asked for help, but were told we hadn't paid the 20 eur. They helped only after we insisted. We paid for the porter on departure, expecting them to meet us at the port after breakfast. There was no porter when we arrived, and passengers were already boarding the ferry. After calling reception and looking around, we found our luggage stacked in a corner and had to carry it ourselves to the ferry bridge. The managers need to pay much more attention to the quality of service.
