Galaxy Hotel

The location is perfect, close to both the center and the seaside, and there’s private street parking you can access with a pin code. The hotel has been refurbished throughout, right down to the room locker and glass balcony fence. It seems to be a family business, and a very nice young family welcomed us. They were kind to us and our son, anticipated what we needed, and showed us how to use the amenities and what to see nearby. Since the hotel wasn’t full, they upgraded us to a refurbished room of the same size.

The staff were friendly, but I’d avoid this place. The rooms weren’t clean, just look under the bed, and the decor and atmosphere were absent. It felt like a hospital. The bathroom looked like it was from the 50s, and there were no insect nets on the windows, which is unheard of in Greece. Parking wasn’t always available. We had three rooms, and they were all the same. If you’ve stayed in one decent hotel in your life, you’ll know the good Google reviews are fake.

The one thing I didn’t like was breakfast. It was poor quality, not just a result of the corona rules requiring more sanitized ways to serve it. Otherwise, we had a very pleasant stay and would come back. The room was spacious for two and had all the amenities we wanted. The bed was excellent, and the new air inverter kept the temperature comfortable in the hot Cretan climate. The television had a wide variety of European channels. The bathroom was nice, with just the toilet and shower inside, while the trough was outside for use after the toilet and before entering the room. The lighting felt warm and cozy, and the newly redesigned room looked stunning.

The location wasn’t for me, and there wasn’t a good view because the hotel is between buildings. I liked the rest of the room, though the beds weren’t very soft and hurt my back. The food and service were good.
