For the price, it was the cheapest place I found in Igoumenitsa, and I managed to get some reasonably comfortable sleep. The room was large, the beds were comfortable enough, the TV worked, towels were provided, and there was a balcony and a working fridge. It was near restaurants, though still a bit of a walk from the ferry port. But this was one of the worst hotel rooms I’ve stayed in. The bedroom wall had chunks missing, and the bathroom was literally falling apart. Calling the damp problem in there bad would be an understatement. The room smelled musty, so the window had been left open, which let in mosquitoes and tiny flies that multiply fast and bite. I spent much of the evening battling them while watching the winter Olympics, taking out four mosquitoes with some expert towel work and massacring the flies. The air conditioning didn’t work, nobody was around to speak to, and the room was so dark I called it “the dungeon.” There was also a mysterious puddle in the corridor outside, with no sign of a leak. I’m backpacking and have stayed in some questionable places, but this one ranks right up there.
