Kamares Boutique Hotel & Spa

Breakfast was a lovely surprise, with plenty of delicious, high-quality local produce for such a small hotel. The building and furnishings are beautiful, and the service was outstanding. It really feels like a boutique hotel. I had a lovely stay and can’t wait to return to Ioannina.

The staff were warm and polite, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. It’s a lovely traditional building, with private parking nearby. Restaurants, bars, supermarkets and the city’s main sights are all within walking distance.

The hotel itself is beautiful, and I’d been looking forward to staying there, so it was disappointing to end up uncomfortable in our room. We were on the top floor, where the attic-style ceiling left only half the room tall enough to stand in. The couch and TV were under the low part, so sitting upright on the couch meant hitting my head. I’m claustrophobic, which made it especially hard to relax. I checked the website photos and couldn’t find any showing that ceiling. When I asked reception about changing rooms, they said none were available, then told me the photos were online and I must have missed them. They said they couldn’t do anything. Paying extra for a deluxe room made that sting more. We didn’t use the spa, though I found it odd that the jacuzzi costs extra when it’s usually included at five-star places. I’d really hoped to enjoy the hotel more. Such a shame.

The staff were so kind and eager to make us feel at home, and breakfast in the backyard had a quiet, friendly feel. Everything was spotless, and the design was both cozy and very aristocratic. I also had a seasonal facial treatment that left me completely relaxed, with super soft skin. It was fantastic, more than five stars from me, and I definitely recommend it.
