The Lake Hotel

The staff made us feel welcome and comfortable throughout our first trip to Ioannina. Thanks, Anthia 😊. We spent four days over New Year and had a wonderful stay. The hotel is quiet, stylish, modern, and well maintained, with spacious rooms and a very, very comfortable bed. Breakfast had lots of delicious choices. Its location is ideal, within walking distance of the main attractions. We loved it and will be back. Highly recommend for the service and location.

The lakefront setting fell a little short for me. The hotel doesn't own all the way to the water, and the view was partly blocked by what looked like stadium seating for rowing or other water sports. Still, it's an easy drive to the Vikos gorge viewpoints, and I think Ioannina has more to do than staying up in Aristi. The old town is about a 25-minute walk, and there's plenty to see, along with lots of coffee places and real bars. The American bar is a good stop for a cold beer on a warm walk back. I'd return without hesitation and try more from the menu. I stayed three nights during a long six to seven week trip to rest, and the food and service stood out most. The Greek dishes had a twist that suited my taste. I'm English but live in Spain, and the menu worked well for an English palate. The pork main was a highlight, as was the Mediterranean salad, a take on Greek salad that I ordered every day. The barman on breakfast and lunch shifts was fantastic, attentive and helpful, and confident enough to suggest dishes. The front desk also handled laundry for some technical clothes with tricky instructions: no conditioner, tumble drying, or ironing. He took it himself to make sure the instructions were explained correctly in Greek. It came back perfect, which isn't always my experience.

My favorite place to stay in Ioannina. The room was large and cozy, with a nice mix of modern and traditional style. The staff were nice, and breakfast was really good. The only issue was how crowded the pool got with people who weren't staying at the hotel.

The spa, front desk, and beach were all excellent, and there was plenty of parking. It's also close to the airport. Breakfast was good, though the coffee wasn't great. Better to get one from the pool.
