Flisvos Hotel

The location is ideal for a party holiday in Ios, but I’d look elsewhere for somewhere to stay at a similar price. The hotel feels dated and has an unpleasant musty smell. The showers have weak pressure, no curtain or holder, and the bathroom floods when you use them. The running water was brown, which was off-putting. There’s no Wi-Fi, a real problem for international visitors without roaming. When I arrived, there was an empty toilet roll left behind and the previous guest’s bins hadn’t been emptied. The receptionist may have been a pleasant man, but his behavior felt unprofessional and made the place uncomfortable. He was sitting at the desk in his underwear when I checked in. Later, after sending me to the wrong room, he shouted “come here” through the hotel where all the guests could hear.

The location, balcony view, and price were the positives, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. I spent three nights and got badly bitten by bed bugs. When I showed the owner photos of the bugs and told him what happened, he suggested the bites came from something else. He speaks very little English, which is fair enough when travelling, but he still didn’t accept what I showed him. The handheld shower has no screen or curtain, so water goes everywhere. Next time I’d pay more for somewhere comfortable, and I’ll try to get a refund.

The location is fantastic and the balconies are great. The owners are really nice and helpful. As for the room, you get what you pay for.

It has an old fashioned, traditional Greek feel, very old school.
