Paraskevi Apartments

The beds were very comfortable, if a bit low, and the upstairs apartment was fairly spacious. That was about all the good we found across the three houses we rented, two downstairs and one upstairs. The ground-floor houses were old and very cramped, with room for four at most, not five. We ran into plenty of plumbing and door problems, including front doors that wouldn't close. There was dust, cobwebs, and spiders everywhere. House 1's toilet had to be reset by hand after every flush. The upstairs place looked nicer and was the only one with a bidet, but the water pressure was so low we often had no water at all, and it was always cold. One whole day without water was explained as "gardening" day, when the supply to the area was cut off to water the ipsos plants. Cooking was another hassle. Two of the three houses had hotplates connected to a small oven instead of proper stoves. It took around 50 minutes just to boil water, so making pasta would've taken ages. We were warned about the "Paraskevi boys" legend, that people staying there would spend two nights in jail for disturbing the peace. The neighbors do report and threaten to report noise at the slightest sound, so be quiet after 11 p.m. The downstairs balconies were practically on the street, easy to climb over and get inside. Someone even took a towel we'd left out to dry. There was no real parking, apart from a tiny space outside one balcony. Bees were also a problem because of a nearby hive. Eating on the narrow but long balcony, or even leaving the windows open, was practically impossible.
