Caretta Island - All Inclusive

Good value and little to complain about. The location works, though getting to the nearest town for shops or local restaurants means a bit of a walk.

The location is the strongest point: the hotel is close to a great beach and, in season, to the island’s lively area near Laganas. The rooms were clean and the service was good, with no complaints there. The rest was much less convincing. My friends and I found the food very poor, bland, repetitive, and with little choice. Being able to book lunch and dinner at the Caretta Beach hotel helped, since the food there was definitely better. One of the two bars was closed during our stay, including the snack bar, and only part of it was moved to the other bar. Drinks came in plastic cups, which didn’t feel very hygienic, especially with no straws. There are three pools, but one is a children’s play area and another is too shallow for swimming. The pool water was cold, colder than the sea, which thankfully is very close. The hotel looks nice in photos, but didn’t match what we found in person. It was very average and hard to recommend.

A lovely, cosy place with the sea extremely close by. The rooms were tidy, and the different pools seemed well set up for children, making it a good option for a family trip. The food tasted good, though after a week it felt repetitive. I would have liked more Greek dishes and fruit. The feta cheese was delicious. One thing to know: building E gets noisy in the evening, so with small children, ask to move rooms.

We went at the end of June 2019 and had a fantastic time. The rooms were clean and elegant, and wearing a wristband let us visit the rest of their hotels. This particular property doesn’t allow bookings with children, so it’s a bit quieter.
