Istron Collection Villas

The staff were so sweet, and the place itself is wonderfully beautiful. Thanks for looking after us and giving us such a lovely stay.

The setting is beautiful, but I’d keep expectations modest. We only stayed one night while passing through, in a villa with a private pool. The property felt very dated and wasn’t cleaned well.

Villa Collection Istro number 5 had a magnificent setting, with a pool looking out over the sea. The little house was pleasant enough, but the old-fashioned equipment was a real drawback: an electric stove and a CRT TV. There are no shutters, so the rooms get very dark for anyone trying to sleep. The bathroom layout is poor too, with nowhere to put towels. The biggest issue was the amount of mold on the walls. That felt like a serious failure of care and professionalism, and the house needs attention. We also had three power cuts, each lasting more than three hours, which was a nuisance. There are good points: the beach is a 200-meter walk, and free sun loungers and parasols are available there. The pool and sea view are lovely, and the hotel staff were attentive and quick to respond. When we had Wi-Fi trouble, they were helpful and got back to us within the day. Agios Nikolaos is a long way from the villas. You really need a car, or you may be waiting hours for the bus, so keep the distance in mind when choosing a place.

Villa 3 had a fully equipped kitchen where we could cook for several people, plus a dishwasher and washing machine. The bedroom upstairs looked out to sea, and there were two covered terraces with the same view. At the blue hour, it was hard to make yourself get up. There was also a swimming pool and a small green area. Just to be clear, Istron Collection Villa isn't a hotel, but separate houses for rent. Frau Furtmann Delvaniakiotis was knowledgeable and always happy to answer our questions. Her tips for outings and tavernas were top notch. We hope to come back next year and would gladly stay in Villa 3 again. One small drawback: sometimes loud music carries over from the hotel, though it doesn't last long.
