We’d come back here without hesitation. It’s quiet and peaceful, yet only a five-minute walk from good restaurants, with nice benches along the way. The room had everything we needed, and the location made it easy to reach all the best beaches. We had a fantastic time. Dimitra is such a caring, helpful host. She really wants guests to have a great time, and I’ve never met a nicer host. The town has what you need without the busy feel of a bigger city. You can rent a car, take public transport to Chania or Rethymno, or book trips elsewhere, like Elafonisi and Balos, through a local travel office. At Dimitra's Studios, the rooms are clean and beautifully designed with marine details, plus handy things like a fridge, cooker and toaster. There’s a lovely garden, a small pool to cool off in, and a rooftop with sunbeds where you can sunbathe during the day or look at the stars at night. The promenade is right there for walks or a jog, and cafes, restaurants, lovely beaches and a large supermarket are a 5-10 minute walk away. Stay at Dimitra's and enjoy yourself :)

Kalyves is a lovely town and a strategic place to stay in Crete. The room itself was great and cozy, and I would recommend staying here, but be firm about anything involving money. On top of the costly room, our host said an international transfer had come up short, without showing any proof. Our other transfers to local businesses had never caused a problem. They also wanted to charge an extra fee just to hold our bags for an hour or two while we returned from a morning activity. We were left with a greedy impression.

There’s convenient parking across the road, and in under five minutes on foot you can reach tavernas, a supermarket and a sandy beach with sunbeds and umbrellas. The apartments feel bright, airy and cool, with lovely decor that’s been chosen or made with care. Dimitra is a wonderful host who makes you feel at home. It’s the small touches too, an English flag on the room nameplate, biscuits, tea, coffee, water in the fridge and raki waiting as a welcome. The rooms each have their own take on a similar style, plus AC and a balcony or outdoor seating.
