The price was unbelievable for what you get. The hotel is spotless, perfectly located, and the staff are warm and welcoming. There’s also a five star restaurant serving tasty traditional dishes made with fresh local ingredients. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Kamares.

The staff were polite, respectful, and accommodating to our large group, and the view and walkable area were great. Still, I didn’t enjoy my stay as much as on other islands. Hotel Boulis had poor wifi, and there were insects around the hotel. Breakfast tasted good but didn’t leave me full. Since the attached restaurant stays open late, it was hard to relax. I can’t rate it below three stars, though, because some of that comes down to my own preferences. For anyone superstitious, a few rooms have a haunted sort of feel. Maybe that’s just the hotel’s vibe, but I think there might be more to it. I’m superstitious myself, so take that as you will.

The location is great, but the interior feels very dated. Our shower was weak and so cramped I couldn’t turn around properly. The air conditioning was weak in my room and broken in my parents’ room. With thin walls, every pipe clunked loudly enough to hear at night. I’d probably stay again if they updated at least the bathroom.

We had a really unpleasant five days here. The rooms were clean and the cleaning ladies were nice, but the rest was a struggle. The toilets smelled strongly of sewage, the shower was tiny with sticky, dirty curtains, and there weren’t enough electrical outlets for two people. The old-fashioned rooms had very thin walls, so we could hear our neighbors. At check-in, the woman at the desk told us we wouldn’t get the room we’d booked on Booking. My wife and I ended up in two small, uncomfortable beds. They tried to fix it by pushing the beds together and filling the gap with table sheets, but the beds still weren’t okay. The hotel is very close to the sea.
