Kanala Villas

Kanala studios is a good choice for families. Kanala is a small, quiet village, with a little market beside the studios and a nice tavern across the road. The beach, which is perfect for kids, is a five-minute walk away. The pool was right in front of our room, though we only used it a little since we spent most of our time at the beach. The rooms were nice and simple, but nothing special, and some things need renovation. The crew was very polite and friendly. I don't regret spending the money.

My vessel from Syros was cancelled, so I called Canala studios in Kythnos the day before my booking to let them know I couldn't make it. I had cancellation insurance and hoped the manager could help; I also asked to move my arrival to the next day. I could see availability on Booking, but the manager said they were overbooked. They told me cancellation had to be 48 hours ahead. I was eight hours late, but the delay wasn't my fault: I was waiting for the Syros travel agency to confirm the vessel departure until the last moment. Booking told me there was no problem on their end and that it was up to the hotel, and they also confirmed they could see a room available for the next day. In the end I booked another hotel in Canala, Kythnos, and checked for myself that the area had nicer, cheaper apartments that were more friendly. Honestly, try to avoid this terrible treatment and the mistake of staying at KANALA STUDIOS. They advertise photos of the swimming pool, but I felt they were legal thieves. This is the worst opinion of my life as an experienced world traveler. I still can't believe what they did to MY FAMILY...

For the price, I think it could be better, though the whole covid situation may make it harder for hoteliers to arrange things in advance and provide their full potential. We had a nice view, a small pool that was well maintained, and kind, polite personnel. The spot was good and family friendly. At times it was noisy, the bathroom wasn't very well maintained, and the converted glass doors made exiting difficult. The wifi was practically unusable. We had to ask for fresh towels, and the beds were rather uncomfortable. Overall, an ok experience.

The rooms were clean, and the view was really nice. Everything was great.
