Balaskas Hotel is a family run business, in Diafani village of Karpathos, only 300 m. from the local beach. The Hotel is a simple and modern facility, which offers all comforts and a warm hospitality to all guests. The rooms are spacious and sunlit, with contemporary furniture, where you will spend endless moments of complete relaxation with the best mountain and sea view. The owner, Mr. Vassilis Balaskas, organizes daily excursions to the villages of Olymbos and Avlona with the hotel's Mini Bus. Alternatively, he can take you to the most beautiful beaches of the island with his privately owned caique. If you are lucky you will see dolphins or even the rare Monk seals. Most days you can see Bonnelli's eagles and Elanora falcons and in the spring and autumn bee eaters, kingfishers and golden orioles. In spring time the whole area blossoms.

Diafani felt like the quiet, authentic Greece we were hoping to find. Mihalis, the owner, was warm and kind. We’d recommend taking the boat trip to Saria Island.

We felt at home at this welcoming, family-run hotel, and the prices were excellent. The staff were kind, honest, and ready to help. Breakfast came with the stay and had a surprising range of choices, including several coffees and even a moka pot for Italian guests. Booking with the hotel directly was convenient, and they can arrange boat trips to both the north and south of the island. The rooms were cleaned every 2-3 days, which suited us fine. Simple, authentic, and a lovely place to stay.

The surroundings are beautiful and made for a relaxing holiday. The whole family was so hospitable and welcoming that we felt right at home, and breakfast was generous and delicious. The owner also runs a boat trip to Saria, where you can swim in caves, have a barbecue, and hear interesting historical explanations. He offers paid transfers to Olymbos too, which was really convenient. We had a perfect stay and highly recommend it.

I only wish I’d had more time in this lovely hotel in quiet Daifani. The owner is friendly and incredibly helpful, and makes the strongest coffee I’ve ever had, in a good way. I’d happily stay here again.

Our family holiday was made by the warm, helpful local family who own the hotel. The rooms were spotless and had everything in place. It’s easily the finest hotel in Karpathos and Diafani, in our view.
