Hotel Spa Montana

The location is good and the pool was great, but the hotel feels like it has seen better days. It seems not to have been renovated for many years, with old carpets, missing equipment, and a dark, dingy feel. Breakfast was generic, with a fairly limited selection of cereal, yogurt, scrambled eggs, and small sausages. Nothing local or different. Supper was disappointing too.

The natural setting is peaceful, and the vintage decor gives the place a nostalgic feel. Its classic furnishings and architectural details suggest it was once a top-tier destination, and that atmosphere makes it distinctive. But the hotel feels stuck in time. It seems little or no renovation has been done since its prime more than 40 years ago. Poor soundproofing can make for restless nights, especially when the hotel is busy. The elevator works, but it’s slow and antiquated, and the gym’s damaged, outdated equipment makes it practically unusable. For a hotel marketed as five-star, the value is disappointing. The premium price is hard to justify given how far the facilities and amenities fall short of modern standards. The setting and vintage look are appealing, but they don’t make up for the lack of basic updates and maintenance. It may still appeal if you’re drawn to those features, but don’t expect a modern five-star stay.

It’s disheartening to see such a beautiful location managed so badly. Breakfast was basic and below average for a hotel in this category, and the services felt outdated and poorly run. Some staff do try their best, but their efforts are undermined by incompetent, unprofessional hotel management. The owners should reconsider who they’ve entrusted to run the business, or the hotel risks losing all its clientele.

There are plenty of cozy places to sit, but many areas aren’t maintained or cleaned. The food is okay, very simple and without much variety, and I don’t think it’s worth the price. I’d rate the hotel three to four stars. It was one of Greece’s best hotels 20 years ago and could still be at the top if the whole place, especially the rooms, were renovated. Even the TVs are old and don’t work. There was black mold in the bathroom and dirt in parts of our room.
