Philippos Apartments

The taxi arranged through the hotel was a very stressful end to my stay. The driver asked to drop a staff member somewhere “on route” to the airport. I agreed because I wanted to get there early, but when I checked Google Maps, we were heading north, away from the airport. The detour took 30 minutes and left us in traffic up a mountain with no phone signal. As a solo female traveller, I was anxious about both my safety and being late. I shared my location with a friend who was also in Corfu, just in case. Maybe I’ve watched too many true crime shows, but I felt deeply uncomfortable. I wouldn’t recommend booking a taxi through the hotel. The staff were pleasant and had arranged it, but after that ride and the contaminated water on my last morning, I’ll look for somewhere else when I return to Kassiopi. Before then, the location had seemed ideal: close to the harbour, beach and restaurants, yet quiet at night. I could even see Kassiopi Castle from the shower. The pool was lovely, with plenty of sunloungers, and the other guests were friendly. It was clear many return often. The rooms were basic, which was fine, but they needed a better clean. There were loose hairs on the tiled floor, especially by the chair legs, which I’d expected to be cleared after the previous guest. A broom or sweeper would have helped me tidy my own hair. The beds were a bit hard but still fine for sleeping. The wardrobes smelled musty and had random rusty hangers. Then, on the very last morning, the bathroom tap made a loud gurgling sound and yellow-brown water came out. Without the water issue and the taxi detour, I would have stayed again.
