Guesthouse Batalogianni

This was the worst restaurant experience I’ve had anywhere in Greece, and that’s saying a lot. The waiter was the rudest I’ve ever met and seemed to hate his job. He should find work that doesn’t involve dealing with people. The food was acceptable, but the views couldn’t make up for how awful the experience was. You can get similar views at almost any other restaurant nearby.

A great place to stay, with lovely staff, a comfortable bed, and a clean room. The balcony faced the rocks, and breakfast was included, with generous portions and a good variety. Parking was available too.

The room looked lovely, was clean, and had a nice view, but the mattress was too soft and gave us back pain. The air-conditioning was loud enough to disturb our baby’s sleep. We were traveling as a family with our baby boy and our dog, and had specifically looked for dog-friendly accommodation. We emailed the hosts after booking to tell them about the dog. They said dogs over 15 kg required an extra €10 cleaning fee. We were fine with that, though the weight cutoff seemed arbitrary. We also asked for another key card so the air-conditioning could stay on for our dog while we briefly visited a nearby monastery. They said they didn’t have one and suggested we couldn’t leave our card in the room unless we were inside. That felt unnecessarily rigid for a pet-friendly place, but we stayed polite. The next morning, a red-haired woman with glasses accused our dog of breaking a flower pot on a terrace we had never visited, where the dog had never been. When we explained, she replied, “But your dog is big.” It felt rude and discriminatory. She also said we had left the dog alone all afternoon, though we were away for only 2.5 hours. We’ve traveled extensively with our dog since she was a puppy, and she’s now 4 years old, so the comment felt patronizing and unnecessary. We always take care of her comfort and safety, especially in hot weather, which is why we booked a room with air-conditioning. We can’t recommend this accommodation to people traveling with a dog because of the staff’s unwelcoming attitude. The property itself may be nice, but the way we were treated overshadowed the stay.

The rooms were great, and the toilets had been refurbished recently and looked beautiful. There’s a spectacular view and private parking, which was really convenient. The staff were extremely helpful and nice, and the restaurant food I tried was absolutely delicious. Great value for money, I highly recommend it.
