Hotel Minoa

I only booked because it was the only room available for the dates I wanted, and I wasn't expecting much from a small hotel by the harbour. It turned out to be a delightful surprise: cosy, tasteful and charming, with friendly people. The garden-surrounded rooms were surprisingly quiet. The owners were exceptionally warm and helpful, and breakfast was outstanding, with homemade pastries, fruit and more. The reception also serves as the patisserie shop, and breakfast really showed off their baked goods! One small caveat: people passing by can see ground floor room windows and balconies at head-height. They've tried to screen them with plants, but your privacy isn't assured.

We'd spent 2 weeks travelling around the Greek islands, and this was our clear favourite. I booked Amorgos without really knowing what to expect, but the hotel was lovely and Joanna was an incredible host. When we arrived, she spent about 10 minutes with us, sharing the best insider guide to this incredible island. I'd stay here again.

The rooms were cute and comfortable, and the owners were incredibly nice and hospitable. They also offer a buffet breakfast for 5 euros, with local and house-made dishes. The service was excellent. I hope to come back to Amorgos and will definitely book here again!

Everyone at this lovely little 2-star hotel was friendly and attentive, and made us feel very welcome on this marvelous island. The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean. Some look out to the harbor, while others face the small garden where the owners grow vegetables. You can have some of those vegetables at breakfast, along with homemade cakes, marmalades, fruit salads and Greek yogurt. It's right in the harbor at Katapola.
