Spileo House Boutique Apartments - Adults Only

Pauline was a fantastic host, from welcoming us and showing us around the flat to being ready whenever we had a question or a problem. Fresh sheets and towels came every two days. The pool was spotless and cleaned daily, and with only 6-8 bedrooms, we often had it to ourselves. The hillside setting keeps you away from the noise in town and the planes from Kerkira. By car, shops, bars, restaurants and tour guides in the town center are just 2-3 minutes away. Mesongi Beach is a 10-15 minute walk, and the family-run 75 steps Taverna is only two minutes on foot. It's also a handy base for seeing Corfu, with most parts of the island about a 30-40 minute drive away. We couldn't recommend the place more.

We had a lovely, comfortable week in a one-bedroom apartment at Spileo House, with a beautiful view. The property and pool were clean and beautiful, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Pauline gave us a kind welcome and said we could contact her if we needed anything. We got around on foot without hiring a car, buggy or bike, and enjoyed walking more than expected. A couple of days, we took the green bus from Messonghi to explore farther around the island. We're in our mid-twenties and moderately fit, though anyone with mobility concerns would probably be better off with a car or buggy/motorbike. We loved being able to enjoy Corfu's lively areas and then return to a peaceful spot tucked into the hills, with a stunning view. It was just the getaway we needed, and we'll be back. 🥰

The view is stunning, the pool was hardly used, and Pauline was a very kind, friendly host. Still, our week at Spileo House from 12-19 Sept. left us disappointed, and we won't book again. There was some miscommunication, so Pauline wasn't there when we arrived, though we were able to get into our apartment. The photos on several websites seem to show the penthouse suites. Our apartment, #6, had a good bedroom, but the kitchen and living room were small. The place is called a boutique hotel, yet the stark white lighting and decor made it feel like a cheap cafeteria. The kitchen had just enough equipment for two people, with only two forks, knives and so on. Pauline arranged a coffee machine when we asked, though it wasn't normally included. The week before, at Kassiopi Mare appt., we had a little Nespresso machine and sample cups in an even smaller kitchen. Maybe our expectations were too high.

Pauline made us feel very welcome and was so helpful managing the property. We only had four nights and wished we could have stayed longer to see more of the area. We didn't use the car. The few apartments share a crystal-clear pool. The Penthouses have a jacuzzi terrace and the best views, along with a kitchenette, dining room, bathroom and king-size bedroom. From here, we walked through the olive groves to local tavernas, and the sea is about a 10-minute walk along that track. The views over the Ionian Sea towards Albania are wonderful.
