Amina Hanem Boutique Apartments

We really enjoyed our stay in this old mansion in the historic part of the city. It's a historic hotel, with a lovely wooden interior and views of the sea and Kavala. The room had a very large, comfortable bed and could fit 5 people comfortably, though there were 4 of us. It also had a mini fridge with 2 free waters, a coffee machine and 4 free capsule coffees. The air conditioning was enough.

The location is very good and the rooms are decent. A room with a sea view might have been nice, but our rooms weren't very interesting. Cleanliness needs improvement. Worst of all, we were practically pushed out at 11h02, only two minutes past checkout.

There are steep stairs to climb, which wasn't fun with luggage, especially since our driver dropped us 500 m downhill when we arrived. The place calls itself a hotel, but to me it's just an Airbnb. I only found out about the shared kitchen on the ground floor after spending a week there, and wish someone had mentioned it before or during the stay. That was a pity, especially after paying high rates for single occupancy in late October. I guess solo travelers don't count. The cleaner only comes after someone checks out. When she does, she screams into her phone for hours. She speaks Greek and Bulgarian, but no English. There are no carpets in the room anymore, so you hear a lot of noise, including sex noise from upstairs. The TV has only a handful of channels, all Greek. Also, the address is No.42, not 52 as Google Maps shows. It might be okay over a weekend for young, fit people, but I won't come back.

The rooms have a quirky Arabic / Turkish feel that made the accommodation seem almost like a palace. The view over the port and water was incredible. I also liked the communal kitchen, and each room has a mini fridge.
