Lucy Hotel

The spa has a sauna, steam room, small hydro-jet pool and a little gym, and the service there was great. Everyone we dealt with, from reception onward, was friendly and helpful. Breakfast had loads to choose from and tasted good, especially the sweet bougatsa. Our room was tidy, with a really nice bathroom, and the room-service food came in good portions and was delicious. For a 5-star hotel in Kavala, it also wasn’t even expensive. I had a really nice stay and would happily go back.

You need to book the spa ahead of time since it’s small, but it’s cosy and private enough to enjoy. The room was clean, with a big bathroom, and all the services were great. Lovely spot right by the beach, with a nice lobby bar too.

The sea views at Lucy Hotel Kavala are fantastic, and the setting is quiet. We could leave the car parked and walk to Kavala’s centre and old town in a reasonable time, or take the frequent bus from nearby. Inside, though, the service and quality fell short of what I’d expect internationally from a five-star hotel. The exterior needs painting, and check-in felt unwelcoming: the only receptionist was sullen. Our room had a musty smell, and the bathroom drains stank until we ran the water for a while. The so-called “mini-bar” held one beer, one cola and two small bottles of water. At breakfast, staff weren’t attentive, and we and other guests had to get their attention to be served coffee. The hot buffet food was barely lukewarm. With its location and views, Lucy Hotel Kavala could be a great hotel, but management needs to take charge of staff training and supervision.

The breakfast is superb, and the hotel is comfortable and beautiful as it is. It could use some modernization, though. The design is good, and the area keeps city noise at bay. There’s a beach out front, but swimming wasn’t comfortable for us because of the fishing harbor and floating things in the sea.
