The view was spectacular, the food was good, and the pool was a welcome escape from the heat. Jennie runs the pool bar in the day and the main bar at night, and she's an absolute delight. Nothing's too much trouble, and the manager was helpful and made sure we had what we needed. We had a fantastic time, met some great people, and would happily return. I was nervous after reading some reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was basic, but clean and very spacious. The description says rooms aren't serviced daily and air conditioning costs extra. It's not a five-star hotel, and the price reflects that, so I don't understand why some people expect five-star service. We didn't have ants, though others did and were given spray to deal with them. If you want daily bed changes, you have to pay those higher prices.

Jenny was the only person at the hotel who treated us nicely. The view was decent, but the stay was awful, and the hotel is a 30-minute walk from KAVOS town, which is a long way in the heat. The pictures may look great, but don't let the view photos fool you. On our first night, after a delayed flight and a two-hour journey from the airport, we weren't allowed into our room. Nicholas, one of the evening staff, swore at us. We then waited from 3am until 7am for the manager to arrive and let us in. In the room, there were about 100 ants. The sheets and bins weren't changed during the five days we stayed. On day three, we had to take out our own used sanitary pads because we couldn't stand the germs and ants. We also had to pay for air conditioning, toilet rolls, and towels, all basic things we felt a hotel should provide. We were treated disgustingly. Jenny should be the manager.

We left after seeing the state of the hotel and finding somewhere else to stay. We were only booked for four days and couldn't wait until Wednesday or Thursday for a room change. My partner was so upset she couldn't sleep despite being exhausted after our flight, which was already an hour late. She just wanted to go home, but we managed to arrange another hotel. We arrived early Monday morning at Ionian Seaview Hotel. The young receptionist gave us a key and directions. On the way to the room, there was rubbish everywhere, cracked tiles on the steps, and a dead bird by the pool. Inside, we found brown stains around the toilet, a dusty cobweb over the bed, a loose socket beside it that seemed dangerous, and an exposed, moldy pipe with hair under the kitchen sink. There was mold in the bathroom corner and on the bottom of the inside door, which was coming apart, bugs on the bathroom ceiling, a dirty moldy shower curtain, and dust on the bedside lights and curtains. We reported it and asked to move, but the receptionist said nothing could be done until the manager arrived at 9am. We tried calling the On The Beach helpline later but couldn't get through. In the morning, the manager didn't seem concerned. He said the hotel was full and a move wasn't possible until Wednesday or Thursday. He agreed to have the cleaner remove the cobweb and clean the toilet, but said the cobweb was because the hotel was by the sea. I've stayed by the sea before and never had that happen. At breakfast, ants were crawling all over our table and cutlery. Looking for where they came from, we saw missing tiles underneath the table. Back at the room, there was a broken stair tile and rubbish all over, including a tampon, broken glass, and cigarette butts. We'd had enough and booked another hotel. After we got home, we complained through our booking provider, On The Beach. The hotel replied that it had offered us a complimentary dinner and drinks and had tried to arrange a room move. That's a lie. They said no rooms were available, and nobody offered us free food or drinks. We only wanted reimbursement for the hotel we couldn't stay in, but they would rather lie to avoid paying. The attached pictures show how disgusting it was.

The views are amazing, and the reception and pool bar staff were professional, helpful, and extremely kind. A few things management could improve: provide toiletries in the rooms, clean rooms and change linens every third day or even every other day, and include at least water with half-board dinner, if not other drinks.

We had a short girls' break here. The location was quiet, with beautiful views, and it was a leisurely ten-minute walk into Kavos. I'm glad we didn't stay in the main resort; it's horrible unless you're 16-20 and into nitrous sniffing. The rooms were clean but very basic and could use an update. Our curtains didn't fit the windows, though everything else was what you'd expect from a budget hotel. We were next to a group of lads, one of whom was particularly idiotic. A few well-placed words sorted that out.
