Eliros Mare Beachfront Poem Hotel

We had a lovely break and would happily come back. The hotel is clean and nicely kept, with great meals and plenty of drink choices. We were all-inclusive and felt it was well worth it. Staff were polite, warm, and ready to help without hovering. It’s about 45 minutes from the airport. Nearby towns and villages are within reach, but you’ll need a taxi or hire car to get around.

Huge thanks to everyone working there. They really look after the guests, and lots of them have been at the hotel for decades, so it feels like they treat it as their own home. Olga, Maria, Katarina, Dimitri, and Elli, who we saw just before leaving, were especially memorable. Sorry I can’t recall everyone’s name. And Lorenzo, thanks for making the Hugo Boss cocktail for our special request! Beach bar team, you’re great too. This was my first all-inclusive, and it was better than I’d imagined. The hotel felt calm and cosy, not too big. The beach was lovely, and the sea stayed clear all day and was really warm in mid-September. Tasty food, comfy beds, a nice pool, and more.

The gym was tiny, about the size of a bathroom, and the equipment was old, poorly kept, and even seemed unsafe. Only two people could use it each hour, with reservations required. Many guests booked all their time on arrival, so it was hard for others to find a convenient slot. Food was repetitive and poor, and basics like fresh orange juice and a simple iced coffee cost extra, which I’d expect to be included at an all-inclusive luxury resort. The sewage smell was there from the moment we arrived, in the lobby, corridors, dining areas, and especially the rooms. Sewage flies were in our room and on the terrace, so sitting outside or opening the bathroom window wasn’t possible. Hygiene fell far below what I’d expect at this level. The air conditioning also smelled damp and musty, making the rooms uncomfortable. We raised these issues with management several times, but nothing meaningful changed, and we left early. Calling this a five-star property is misleading when the price suggests luxury but the facilities, food, and cleanliness fall so short. This was the most disappointing “5-star” stay I’ve had, and many negative online reviews proved accurate. I’d advise anyone looking for a genuine five-star experience to avoid it.

The sea was calm and crystal clear for four days, and we were lucky to get those. August and September are pretty windy, so the rest of our stay brought big waves and red flags. That’s not the hotel’s fault, but keep it in mind if calm swimming really matters to you. We were a family of six and felt well looked after. The service was amazing, and people smiled and remembered our usual drink orders wherever we ordered. The hotel is small, which made the attention feel personal. Our room had a private pool, was cleaned daily, and the towels were changed twice a day. We liked the range of food and the Greek wine selection, enjoying red and white each day. We’d read the negative reviews beforehand, but I don’t understand them. The sea and humidity make drying things harder, and flies and cicadas come with being out in nature. Mosquito spray from the supermarket across the street protected us. We’ll recommend this hotel back home.
