Pines Hotel

There’s spacious parking, and plenty of good cafes, bakeries, shops, and restaurants nearby, so you have what you need close by. It works perfectly well for a one-night stay, even if you’re not being naughty. The one drawback is the very noisy motorway next to the hotel. Unless your room faces the back, you’ll need to shut the windows to get some sleep.

Breakfast comes to the room after you call reception rather than being served buffet-style, and it was really tasty. The room and bed were good, though I would’ve liked a small table since the only shelf wasn’t very spacious. The main issue was the shower. There’s no glass enclosure, so after showering the bathroom floor gets flooded.

I can’t recommend this hotel. It’s overpriced for what you get, and our first room faced the highway, was extremely noisy, and smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. We spent over 30 minutes at the front desk asking for a room without the smoke and noise. The replacement was even worse: dirty, with cigarette remnants under the bed and grime that looked like it had built up over years. The showerhead wouldn’t stay in place, so we had to tie it up with a plastic bag. There’s no curtain or screen around the shower either, and water splashes across the floor, making it a serious slipping hazard. It also didn’t feel family-friendly. The place seemed more like a pay-by-the-hour motel for private encounters.

This place was awful. The room was very noisy and smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. I asked to switch because of the noise and smell, and the next room was even worse, filthy everywhere. It felt like an intimacy motel. I wouldn’t recommend it at all!
