Theoxenia Residence

The breakfast was nice, and the location and pool area were pleasant. The rest of the infrastructure was decent, but the decor felt cheap, the mattresses were poor enough that I could feel the metal springs, and the corridor carpet was filthy. The service was very poor. The bell boy repeatedly promised a taxi would arrive in 5 minutes, but it never showed up. I’ve never stayed at a hotel claiming 5 stars that felt more like 2. Overall, by other standards, I’d call it a 3-star place.

We paid 30€ extra for a room upgrade, only to find it was the same room as the basic one, just more expensive. Then we paid 25€ per person for spa facilities, for the four of us, expecting a heated indoor pool. The pool was incredibly cold, and the Hamam area produced no steam. While we were eating breakfast, restaurant staff took pictures of us. When I raised it with them, they said they were only photographing a colleague behind me. The managers were rude and showed no respect for customers, and the after-sales service was poor. After all this, we contacted them to explain what had happened. They offered a free day at the spa, which I appreciate as an attempt, but it felt awkward to offer the same service that had disappointed us. We didn’t want to go back. We also asked for a refund of the spa fees since we hadn’t actually used it, but they refused.

Theoxenia is in a fantastic spot for holidays as well as business, surrounded by restaurants and a small park. The hotel is very nice, with modern, clean and cozy spaces in both the main building and the residential area. There’s a lovely pool and a very good breakfast area.

The hotel itself is beautiful, with really pretty, massive rooms and delicious restaurant food. There are lots of other places to eat within easy walking distance, too. It’s quiet and lovely, but quite remote in a residential area. As a tourist, I wouldn’t especially recommend staying this far out.
