Aphrodite Hotel Syros

The apartment is just metres from the beach, though it has no sea view despite what was advertised. The location itself is perfect, but cleaning and noise made our one-week stay unpleasant. The place is overpriced and poorly maintained, and we had too many unnecessary exchanges with the landlord about cleaning and water shortages. We found that there are much better options nearby. I wouldn't recommend it unless the price is heavily discounted.

There was no room service or towel change during our five days. The studio was spacious, with a nicely furnished, well-equipped kitchen and living area, plus a pleasant patio with a handy outdoor shower. But it was meant to have two separate bedrooms and two bathrooms, and it didn't really work out that way. The upper bedroom had no door, and the lower one was just a pullout bed. One bathroom had only a toilet and washbasin; the other had a toilet and shower but no washbasin, and sometimes smelled.

The staff were pleasant, as was the cleaning lady, and it was clean. Still, it wouldn't be my first choice. The room seems nice by the end of the holiday because the location is good, but it's so tiny there's nowhere to put a suitcase. The sea view is only a faint glimpse in the distance, and for breakfast you have to go down to the cafe. It's really only suitable if you're Polly Pocket or a Playmobil baby. If I'd been shipwrecked and washed up on Syros, though, I might stay there!

The room was sparkling clean every day, and everyone working at the accommodation was so friendly. Best of all, the hotel is only two steps from the sea. They did a very good job!
