Hotel - Apartments Delfini

The view from this hotel is outstanding compared with any other property in Kissamos, and the location beside the small harbor was ideal for us. We rented a boat there to Balos, which we really recommend, and ate at the best fish and seafood restaurant, recommended by the owner. The hotel isn't new, but has everything you need, and the staff are super friendly and open to every request. The cleaning lady even recognized us when we were eating in town and came over to say hello. It's great value for money, and we came back for a second year. The rooms with sea views have an absolutely amazing outlook, and the retro design feels intriguing and authentic. The air conditioning is there, but it's loud and doesn't really work. Noise from other rooms' air conditioning and the hotel laundry machines sometimes made it hard to fall asleep.

The thing that made our stay was the hotel manager, Panos. He became a friend from day one, and we were always glad to have long intellectual conversations with him in the evenings. He was helpful with whatever we needed and gave basic information on getting around Crete. The setting is great, though a rented vehicle would make it even better, since there aren't many tours from Kissamos. There are a few tavernas very close, and the town center and Kissamos bus stop are a 20-minute walk away. The port for boats to Balos is 15-20 minutes away too. There's also a wild, rocky beach just below the hotel, almost in view. It's beautiful and well worth exploring with a snorkeling mask. We tried the sandy beaches in Kissamos and Viglia beach, but neither compared to that lovely rocky beach. The vila overlooks the Kissamos shore and endless blue sea. It is a little shabby next to modern hotels, especially the bathroom facilities and kitchenette, which could use an update. Still, it's clean and cozy, beautiful in its simplicity and has a soul. There is no TV, so it's not the place for anyone looking for an all-inclusive hotel with a kids' pool and entertainment.

The staff were really friendly and the balcony has a great view. The place is a bit inconvenient if you don't have a car, and the room equipment has seen better days. Apart from that, it's a good place to stay.
