Traditional Sirma in Klima

Watching the sunset from the water was one of our favorite parts. We could just step into the sea right outside the front door and swim while the sun went down. Klima is a special place, and the property was much nicer in person than it looked in the pictures. Waking up to the waves every morning was lovely. The bed was very comfortable, and the air conditioning in the bedrooms helped us sleep well. We liked eating at Astakas, the nearby taverna, but when we visited it had limited hours and was the only place to eat nearby, so we had to plan ahead. The property is reached on foot along the waterfront. At points the water comes up to your ankles, and the rocks and gravel are unstable, so it won’t work for anyone with accessibility issues. The host can arrange someone to carry your luggage, so you don’t have to take your suitcases through the water. After dark we sometimes felt a bit stuck at the house. The water was rough on a few days, with waves reaching the houses, and the path was slippery and unlit. You’ll probably want to hire a car, as there’s no nearby bus stop. The road to Klima is very narrow and a stressful drive, but the area is so beautiful and peaceful that it was worth it. We’re glad we stayed here.

We stayed for two nights while travelling around the Cyclades islands. Klima has a traditional sirma, and it’s worth going to see it!
