Zeus Exclusive Villas

Villa Artemis gave us the quiet, restorative break we were hoping for, and we knew Zeus Exclusive Villas was a great choice as soon as we arrived. The villa isn't overlooked by the others. Outside, there's a shaded spot on the sun terrace, comfortable outdoor seating and sunbeds, plus sturdy umbrellas fixed into concrete bases. We ate at the outdoor table and made good use of the BBQ, which has a sink and plenty of worktop space. There's also a shower and a lovely curved pool, roughly 9m x 5m, that gets sun all day. High gates with a video doorbell and a covered parking space helped keep the car cool. Inside, everything was modern and incredibly clean. The open-plan kitchen, dining and seating area has a TV, and we signed into Netflix. There are two bathrooms with showers, no baths. The villa comes with complimentary soaps, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body cream, shower caps, nail files, cotton pads and cotton buds, as well as great hairdryers. Towels, robes and slippers were lovely and changed regularly. The cleaning team also changed the pool and beach towels each day. Both bedrooms have fitted wardrobes and safes, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. One bed was king size and the other was even bigger than a UK super king. Both rooms were set up as doubles for us and open straight onto the terrace. The kitchen had most things we needed, along with coffee, tea, seasonings, olive oil and a couple of bottles of wine. The welcome pack included a few fresh items, which made settling in easier. Bring ice cube bags if you want iced drinks. There's a good press grill for toasted sandwiches and a coffee maker too. It took us a couple of days to get the hang of Kefalonia's confusing road network, but learning the main routes and landmarks made driving easier. The roads down to the coast can be tricky, with narrow stretches and steep inclines, so take it steadily and be prepared to persevere. It's worth the effort. Close to the villa are Byzantine apartments, with an open pool bar serving restaurant food or takeaway burgers, pizzas, pastas and more. A little further up the road there's a local shop that delivers and also serves a small but amazing outdoor BBQ meal. It's family run, great value and a really authentic experience. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners of Zeus Exclusive Villas, and everyone we met on Kefalonia was friendly, both in and out of the villa. The cleaning team were fantastic too. We had a brilliant stay and would highly recommend it.
