Golden Sun

The hotel missed our expectations in too many ways for three stars, so I gave it two. The location next to the centre of Kokkari is handy, and there are flowers, lovely cats, well-kept shared areas, and books you can borrow for free, including a few in Dutch. Our room was sometimes cleaned with a dirty wipe and then smelled. The shower flooded every time, and towels came only every two days, even though they were needed to dry the flooded bathroom. We also had cold water for four of our six days. New rules about parking and air conditioning seemed to appear every other day, and while we were out, the owners even removed our AC remote from the room. Breakfast was poor and exactly the same each day: overcooked eggs, average croissants that were more like dough balls, cheese, ham, olives, bread, jam, milk, and Greek yoghurt. There weren’t enough outlets to charge our devices. The hotel hasn’t been renovated in the 21st century, and you can only charge a phone in the kitchen, not beside the bed. Google said three stars, but I feel it deserves fewer.

We spent two weeks this year in one of the family apartments and were very satisfied with the stay. The place is well built, extremely quiet, and very clean. We enjoyed it a lot.

Kokkari is a hidden gem in Greece, and we had a brilliant stay. The owners have put so much effort into growing a beautiful garden that makes the place feel cozy and cute. You can feel the love and happiness around. Huge thanks to the owners ❤️ We’ll definitely come back and would recommend it!

Really nice place, but my room was small, and the bathroom flooded after every shower. Breakfast was a bit lacking too. Needs some improvement.
