Green Park Skiathos

We came to Green Park as a group of eight. The setting is beautiful and the service was first class, but the food arrived far too quickly. All eight main courses were on the table less than ten minutes after ordering, and several items were only lukewarm. It made us wonder whether everything had really been freshly cooked. Roast lamb and gravy served on a plate with lettuce was also a rather bizarre combination.

The gentlemen serving us knew the dishes well and were attentive, informative, and happy to talk about them. We had a fabulous meal and couldn’t fault the service. We hope to fit in another lovely dinner here before we leave the island.

After a stay in such a peaceful setting, I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere quiet. The garden is beautiful, the rooms are comfortable and clean, the food is extraordinary, and the staff are very welcoming.

The welcome is a big part of what makes Green Park special. Nicolas and his brothers Theodore and Alexander run the place with their parents, and they treated us like family from the moment we arrived. Nothing seemed too much trouble, and their hugs at the end were a lovely finish to our holiday. It’s easy to see why some couples have been returning for 20 years. This was our first visit, and it won’t be our last. We spent most of our time in the beautiful garden, with its trees, flowers, and pool. The 16 self-catering apartments sit back from the road in Agia Paraskevy, near the island’s centre and just off bus stop 16. The bar and restaurant are attractively laid out. The restaurant’s many awards seem well deserved: the father does the cooking, and the food is excellent and plentiful, though not among the island’s cheapest. It’s mostly used by two tour companies, one British and one Dutch, but everyone seemed welcome. There’s a real community feel, and it’s easy to sit and chat with people. Days are peaceful; at night there’s more activity, with music that adds atmosphere without taking over. It strikes a nice balance between a retreat and a holiday hotel. Our apartment was well equipped, with very comfortable beds. If you’re after a hotel with chrome fittings and marble bathrooms for the whole family, this may not suit you. But if you want to relax and get away from it all, Green Park is worth considering. Just be aware that it books up quickly.
