Galini Palace Resort Hotel

The grounds are so large that my friend and I spent our first evening just exploring. There’s plenty to do, and the hotel is right on the beach. Our room was spacious and modern, and the staff were really nice. The food stood out most for me. Hotel meals are usually pretty basic, but here every meal felt like it came from a great restaurant. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

The hotel is spacious, clean, and beautiful, and the rooms with private pools feel especially luxurious. We also found the buffet varied and nicely presented, with options to suit different tastes. Staff were friendly and ready to help, the room was cleaned regularly, and our towels were changed daily. There were a couple of practical drawbacks. You have to cross the road to get to the beach, and the sunbeds are only on the hotel grounds. We couldn’t extend our stay by a few hours either: check-in is strictly at 2:00 PM and check-out at 11:00 AM. That may be inconvenient if you arrive early or leave late, though it is the hotel’s policy. We really enjoyed our time here and can recommend the hotel! 🌴☀️

The biggest letdown was the food and drinks. We stayed for seven days and saw the same salad on the buffet across the day and again the next day. Most dishes had little flavor, and I wouldn’t recommend the gyros 😆. The set-menu restaurant wasn’t worth choosing over the main one. Drinks were poor quality and overly sweet even when we asked for less syrup. Tap water was served, and there wasn’t bottled water in the rooms each day. Housekeeping was mixed. One team was polite and friendly, but knocked at 8am every day to ask if we wanted cleaning, even though we kept saying later. Another team checked the door sign and came while we were out, which didn’t disturb us. The place felt new, staff were helpful and polite, and the pool and range of things for kids and adults were nice. The sea is about a minute away on foot. They should do more with the seafront, though. I’m not sure we’d return. They’d be better off presenting themselves as a three-star superior hotel and matching expectations than doing the reverse.

The buffet was average at best for a four-star hotel, and the drinks were very poor: cheap, artificial, and still tap water. We didn’t get water or coffee replenished in our room either. The all-inclusive label also felt misleading. Water was tap water, service was basic, and the supposed à la carte restaurant amounted to one fixed evening where you picked one main course. The food was nothing like chef cuisine. Getting to the beach means crossing the road and climbing down rocks. At least proper steps could have been built. The hotel owns the beach sunbeds, but charges guests to use them, and hotel towels cost extra too. Reception gave us a very cold welcome, with no hotel map or explanation of where things were. The friendliest people we met were the Asian team members, who stood out from the rest of the staff. I stay in genuine five-star hotels regularly, and this fell short in almost every way. It isn’t five-star, and I wouldn’t call it a proper four-star either. Management should rethink that label and set international guests’ expectations more carefully.
