Giannoulis – Grand Bay Beach Resort - Adults Only

Just three days before we were due to arrive, the hotel we had booked almost a year earlier was cancelled. The tour operator offered a replacement that was a significant downgrade in quality, concept, and what we expected from our purchase. I’ve read that these last-minute cancellations followed by an offer of the same alternative property may be a recurring practice connected with this hotel. Being treated this way so close to departure feels unfair and unacceptable. I’d strongly advise against booking if you want to avoid stress and uncertainty just before your trip.

The rooms were large, beautiful, and clean, with daily cleaning. The food was delicious and varied, and the hotel is very close to the beach. Remember water shoes, since the beach on Crete is rocky. It was perfect, and I’d happily stay here again.

The staff’s warmth and flexibility made this stay special. They were open to reasonable requests, and when they found out it was our wedding anniversary, they upgraded our room and decorated both it and the door. It cost them nothing, but the gesture was lovely and earned our loyalty. We’ll certainly be back next year. We spent 12 fantastic days here. The food and rooms were very good, and the hotel has high standards that it seems to maintain consistently. It’s ideal for adults looking for a quiet, comfortable place to relax. When you book, make sure to specify what you expect from your room, such as a sea view. You don’t often come across this kind of customer care these days.

The staff were the best part of our stay. Everyone was attentive and good at their job, especially Andreas and one of the reception women, whose name I’m sorry I’ve forgotten. My main disappointment was the divide between room types. With a standard room, it felt like you had to compete for one of roughly 20 pool sunbeds. Guests who upgraded had their own loungers, and some had private pools. Only the pool with the swim-up bar was available to standard bookings, while the other lovely pools were for upgraded rooms. My advice is to upgrade if you stay here. Breakfast could use more variety. Lunch and dinner were fine. The rooms could use an update too: ours felt like the 70s, not all the sockets worked, and the TV was very old 😂. Even so, we had a great time, and every staff member we met was lovely.
