Atlantica Kolymbia Beach

On our first day, my daughter went to the beach bar to buy water and was abruptly told, “The water here is private.” They sent her back to the public beach without even pointing us to somewhere nearby to get a drink. We were new arrivals, very pale, and desperately thirsty. A really unpleasant welcome.

We had an excellent holiday here and would consider another stay with the Atlantica hotel group. The grounds are spacious, the staff are great, and we found very little to fault. The food was good and varied, while the evening entertainment was a particularly high standard. One small gripe: at the beach bar, beer came in little cardboard cups, which were replaced every round. It seemed wasteful and not very eco-friendly. We understand the hotel is joining the Marriott chain, so things may change.

We were two 23-year-olds on our first trip to Greece, and stayed from 30.08 to 9.09. It was such a good holiday that we’re already hoping to come back next year. The gardens and green space make the place feel huge, and the beach is right next to the hotel. You do pay for beach sunbeds, but there are free ones by the pool. Our beach front double room had a balcony view we wished we could enjoy for longer. The staff made the stay memorable. The rooms were cleaned daily by lovely women, and there’s a Polish staff member who was kind and helpful. Two people by reception arrange car rentals, including delivery to the hotel the next day. The performers were good fun, and my partner and I ended up dancing. At the main bar, Clement, the older bartender, made the best drinks and kept us entertained while we waited. He and the other bartender worked really well together. We had time to chat with Clement, and joked that if he isn’t there next year, we won’t be back. The evening show queues did get long, so another bar open then would help. There was plenty to eat. Breakfast was the same each day, but had so many choices it didn’t get boring. Lunch and dinner changed daily, with themed evenings such as Greek and Italian, plus lots of fish and seafood. I’m a picky eater and still found many delicious meals. Two guys made fresh pizza from scratch and pasta at a separate station for breakfast and lunch, and I went back for both every day. Dinner drinks were brought to the table and felt a bit fancy, in a good way. The a la carte restaurant is included once per stay; its food was different from the buffet and delicious, and the service was 11/10. The poolside snack bar also had hot and cold snacks and drinks.

The hotel was clean and pleasant, the beach was close, and the sea was clean too. Everyone was nice, from the cleaners, especially Mrs. Elena, to the cook and receptionist.
