Niforos Apartments

The view is incredible, and the outside of the building looks nice. The pool and garden were clean and very well maintained. Morning staff were kind, and breakfast was a standard Greek spread with limited choice, but fine. The rooms were awful, with furniture that felt like it dated from 1973. Heating pipes came up through the floor, there was no carpet for our clothes so we put them on the desk, and the Wi-Fi didn’t work in the rooms, only outside. Mrs. Katerina, who was on afternoon and evening staff, could be kinder and more respectful to guests at check-in, while serving, and at checkout. I’d be willing to pay more for nicer rooms.

We left before getting to try any food, so I can’t comment on its quality. The service was unbearably bad. The waiter didn’t seat us, and when we sat down ourselves, the tablecloth was dirty. We took it off to help speed things up, but she got angry and shouted that it was clean, even though there were melted ice cubes and ash on it. She then asked what we wanted to drink without offering a drinks menu. After the arrogant looks, we decided to go. As we were leaving, she swore at us, apparently unaware that we speak Greek. Having read the other reviews, I’m pretty sure the food is terrible too.

We watched the sun sink beyond the horizon over a glass of wine after a lovely meal. The owner welcomed us warmly and showed us the day's specialities in the kitchen. We tried several traditional Greek starters and a delightful sea bass at this little restaurant above Petani beach.

The restaurant turned out to be a delightful surprise, with very good food, and the staff were kind and friendly. Our room was roomy enough and had an amazing view. The hotel is close to Petani beach, though you need a car to get there comfortably. You can walk down, but the climb back is pretty hard. The beach itself is fantastic.
