Achilleas Beach Adults Only Hotel

The staff were friendly, the beds comfortable, and we liked the small buildings and short walk to the beach. We spent a week at the all-inclusive with my girlfriend and family and enjoyed the holiday. The location is great, but the rooms and food brought my scores down. My girlfriend, her two kids and I are vegetarians. The buffet looked appealing, but the cooks could be more imaginative. Vegetarian meals need to be more than salad and side dishes. Some rooms need renovating. The bathtub-style showers feel dated and awkward, and the glass door let water leak all over the bathroom floor. The doors and handles were in poor shape too. We couldn't open or close the bathroom door quietly, and the same went for the door to the other room.

We really liked the food selection, and as vegetarians we could always find something to eat. There was also a great range of cocktails on the all-inclusive menu. Maria at the pool bar deserves a mention, she was friendly and always smiling. The rooms were roomy and had what we needed, and the hotel was peaceful and relaxing. Lovely location for a quiet break, especially for couples.

For what we paid, this was a really good stay. We spent £400 for a week all-inclusive, and some people seem to expect a five-star hotel for a bargain price. I’d come back. Nothing was bad enough to put me off, and we had a great time at Achilleas Beach Hotel. The beach view is lovely despite a lot of seaweed. Walk a little way to the right and you can swim, and there are free sunbeds there. The pool was too cold for me, though plenty of people were in it. The area was spotless, with toilets and showers nearby. In October it was quiet, with lots of loungers to choose from. The cats were sweet, some shy and some less so. The friendly grey and white one often sitting at reception was adorable, and we called her ‘bug’! Entertainment was the one thing we missed. It was quiet during the day, with mostly music in the bar. We found a theatre with a show, but it was only in German, so we couldn't follow it. Staff were lovely throughout. The receptionists welcomed us with smiles and helped with our questions and noisy neighbours. Spiros at the bar was especially nice and made a delicious sex on the beach cocktail. There were lots of cocktails to choose from, though I’d have liked more variety. Drinks were strong, and alcohol service stopped after 11pm, which we knew when booking. Water was just 60 cents, so we grabbed some for the night. The cheese pastries at the pool bar were so good I kept going back. Restaurant staff made sure dinner was set up for us, and the cleaners left our room spotless every time. The food was buffet quality, not amazing, and I didn't get much variety. The meat was always overcooked, but even as a picky eater I found things to eat at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The tzatziki and feta were delicious. Our room was clean, and the beds were pretty comfortable for a hotel. The bathroom was fine, but the water tasted a bit salty. It was okay for showering, though I’d use bottled water to brush my teeth. There’s a little supermarket down the road, handy for snacks and drinks but quite pricey. A taxi into Kos cost us €35, so don’t let the taxi drivers overcharge you. Walking around, you’re bound to find something for you.

The balcony looked out to sea, and the room had a TV, air conditioning and hair dryer. It was cleaned and the towels changed every day. Sunbeds were available both by the pool and at the beach. The staff were friendly and ready to help, even when something unexpected came up. We had a wonderful holiday here and highly recommend the hotel.
