Aeolos Beach Hotel

We had a really relaxing week in September and would come back. Our room had an amazing sea view, and the nearby islands looked so close. The room blocks stretch across the site, linked by wide, smooth paths. Ours was a short walk along one of them to the beach, which had smooth pebbles and patches of sand. The sea was warm. The grounds also have a colony of cute cats that didn't cause any trouble. Room service was efficient and discreet, and mobile and Wi-Fi signals were good. All the staff were friendly. The all-inclusive drinks are limited to local products, but they were satisfactory. The snack bar serves hot dogs, gyros, burgers and similar food on a rotating daily basis. The pool bar hosts the entertainment, including karaoke, Greek dancing and music, vocalists and musicians. There was background music by the main pool but not the smaller ones. The food overall had good variety, with three themed evenings. We took the shuttle to Kos town for €4 per person each way; a taxi costs €12. The town is very pretty and lovely to walk around in both daytime and at night. AIGLI cafe restaurant was very good, and the harbor is lovely too. My one criticism is the cold snack provided for late arrivals. It was well past fresh. The inclusive drinks and the rest of our stay were enjoyable.

This is my third year coming here, twice a year, with my dog Marcel! The service is amazing. Evangelia at the front desk takes great care of you, Bruno the manager checks regularly that everything is okay, and Maria in the restaurant is so friendly and gives top service. See you soon, guys! We had a lovely stay at Aeolos, even after an accident changed our holiday. My fiancé fell and needed urgent medical attention. The hotel was warm and reassuring, and a doctor arrived within ten minutes. After the diagnosis, his mobility was limited for the rest of the trip. The staff offered to move us to another room and helped us get around the hotel. Their kindness made a stressful situation much easier to manage. The food was amazing, with authentic homemade Greek dishes and other choices to suit different preferences. The amenities were excellent, and we met the friendliest people we've ever encountered. The beach was beautiful, with clear blue water. A minibus runs directly between the hotel and Kos town at frequent times for £4 per person return, and most, if not all, tours offer hotel pickup too. I've been visiting Kos for ten years and have seen a lot of the Dodecanese and parts of the mainland, so I've experienced Greek kindness and hospitality. Aeolos has beautiful ocean and coastline views, with picturesque premium bungalows. We came in October at the end of the season, when Kos is generally quiet, and the hotel could be peaceful during the day. Even then, dinner could be hectic. We sometimes queued for up to an hour just to get into the restaurant because there were too many guests and too few seats, and some dishes could run out while we waited. Staff seat you first, but if you get up for food, someone will take your seat, so I'd get a plate before sitting down. You can't pour your own drinks at dinner; you have to wait for one of the few staff to notice you and take your order, often when you're nearly finished. Restaurant and bar queues could both be long because there seemed to be too few staff. Room supplies like toilet paper, coffee and sugar were rarely replenished, so we had to ask reception for them. The hotel seemed to be trying to operate as a resort without enough facilities or infrastructure for the number of guests. I don't know how it copes in peak summer. Guests often got heavily drunk on the inclusive cocktails, making evenings and nights noisy and disruptive. We didn't get a full, undisturbed night's sleep once. More than three times, we heard and saw domestic arguments and heard guests damaging hotel property. I also recommend using the room safe or locking valuables in your suitcase when you go out. A valuable necklace I'd usually left beside the bed went missing after a day trip. Kos had always felt safe to me. It was "miraculously" found behind the fridge the day after we reported it to reception, emailed to say we'd contact the local police for insurance if it wasn't found, and informed our holiday representative. We lost trust in the hotel and changed hotels midway through the stay. Our holiday rep kindly arranged transfers from the second hotel to the airport. Aeolos has a lot of potential and is picturesque, but this experience dampened our holiday. I'd hate for it to be someone's first impression of Kos, a wonderful island with lovely people.
