Athina Hotel

The internet was better than what I get in my Athens neighbourhood, which made working remotely easy. This is a cosy, locally owned place with plenty of Greek family character, and the owner was generous, welcoming, and cooperative. Everything matched the description, and we got what we paid for and then some. If you’re after a brand new luxury hotel, you’ll want to stay somewhere else.

There aren’t many shops or restaurants nearby, though that also leaves the area quiet and away from crowds. Athina Hotel has a pleasant atmosphere, attentive service, and a comfortable setup with an inviting pool. It’s a relaxing place to stay in Greece, and a fantastic 4-star choice.

The pool was full of rubbish, insects, and ash from a forest fire ten days earlier, and the chairs were covered in ash too. Our room and shower were dirty, and the food was disgusting, hardly food at all. The hotel felt like it was in the middle of nowhere, and our travel agent had arranged the stay. When we complained about the room, the owner was utterly disagreeable. We’d advise avoiding this hotel.

The pool was awesome and I really enjoyed it, and the room itself was decent. But the bed was very hard, and hallway noise made it almost impossible to fall asleep. The owner was very touchy, which left me uncomfortable, and breakfast wasn’t good either.
