Kriopigi Apartments

The pool bar staff, Vaggelis, Jessica and Angela, were lovely, and Pavlos was very attentive in the restaurant, where the food was good. The all-inclusive drinks were the usual sort, but not bad. Our superior double room was amazing, newly modernized, spacious, and had a fabulous balcony. The hotel layout felt a bit disjointed: to reach reception, we had to take the lift down, leave the hotel, then walk up a huge hill. The shuttle bus to the beach was great and the driver was lovely, but the beach itself disappointed us, so we didn't return. The tourist tax was a shock. I thought Jet2 had given me the wrong information, and 10 euros per night was a lot to pay at check-in. I had a lovely time, but with that tax and the small beach, I probably wouldn't come back unless I found a deal I couldn't pass up.

The food was very good and varied, and the pool was a big plus. Our room was very clean, with daily cleaning and fresh towels. We had booked a sea view but got a tree view, which didn't bother us since we were on vacation and it wasn't the main thing. An unexpected guest in the room nearly spoiled our stay, but the staff handled it professionally.

What a mess. The room I booked was completely different from the one I got. I chose a sea view but could see the road, and booked a room with a balcony, but the balcony was on the other side of the building, so I had to leave the room to reach my 'balcony'. The bathroom smelled terribly of urine. I went to reception three days in a row, and each time they said it was 'solved', but nothing changed. I had to keep a towel at the door to block the smell and leave the window open all the time because otherwise the room was unbearable. They upgraded me to all inclusive, but what good were three juices in a teacup with that smell? None! And the so-called private beach was just a patch of sand with no sunbeds, umbrellas, or anything. The same food every day for all seven days, with no real choice to get variety. Expensive all inclusive, but clearly run on a budget.

The staff were friendly and helpful, ready with answers and local tips, and the pool was clean, spacious and a nice place to relax when we didn't want to go to the beach. The beach is around five minutes away by car, and the hotel also runs a shuttle. The water was very clean and inviting. Our stay at Hotel Kriopigi in Chalkidiki was pleasant overall. The rooms were comfortable and had good air conditioning, though the furniture and bathrooms felt dated and could use renovation. Cleaning was consistent, with fresh towels every three days. The restaurant offered a good mix of Greek and international dishes. Breakfast was especially enjoyable, with fresh fruit, pastries and good coffee. Dinner had lots of options, although sometimes the food wasn't warm enough. It's a budget-friendly option for families or couples looking for nice views, a relaxed setting and helpful staff. With updates to the rooms, it could be an excellent destination.
