Blue Asteri Villa

The sea view was the one good thing about this run-down villa. Please don't book it. We arrived Thursday and were moved to another villa on Sunday, after spending 3 nights of a 23-night booking there. On arrival, the outside lights didn't work. It was late, so I hadn't paid attention. The next morning there was no hot water. They sent someone who said he was an electrician, blamed a loose connection in the consumer unit and left. Later, after a little rain, power went off in parts of both sections of the villa. I work for a power supplier fitting high-voltage equipment to live supplies, so I checked the isolation point and tried to restore power. There was a flashover in an outdoor consumer unit. It was an indoor unit with silicone smeared over it, not watertight and, as I understand it, a fundamental breach of European safety regulations to install it there. There were plenty of other problems. The fridge and freezer drawers were so badly broken they could cause injury when opened. Ants kept covering the kitchen no matter how much we cleaned. The pool was filthy, with algae scum lines around the edges and water that looked like it could infect you with a waterborne parasite. The outside sink was so blocked it had become a mosquito hatchery. One dishwasher upstairs was broken; the other had been replaced by a tiny one, maybe suitable for two people, while we were eleven. It was a horrible experience for my family, and I hope no one else has to go through it.
