Ionis Art Hotel

The barman and restaurant staff were super kind, and we had a nice stay thanks in part to our own plans. The location is handy for a nice beach, Cameo island, boat rentals, and more. But the rooms don’t feel like 4* quality, and the A/C was dirty and smelly, so we couldn’t use it. If you’re not Polish, you also can’t really enjoy the hotel program: the manager speaks Polish throughout, and things are mainly set up for Polish tourists. If you plan to spend lots of time at the pool or with other hotel guests, you may want to look elsewhere if you’re not Polish. :-)

The food was fresh, delicious, and varied every day, thanks to Michalis, the hotel restaurant chef, Mario, the sous chef, and the polite, helpful restaurant team. We loved the chef’s Greek cooking masterclass and the Greek dinner. I even learned how to make a real Greek salad! Our room was spacious and comfortable, with super comfy beds, side tables, mirrors, and pictures on the walls. It had everything we needed, and the maids kept it immaculate each day. It overlooked the pool, and the hotel’s cosy, artistic décor stood out from the lobby to the rooms. The welcoming, hospitable staff were ready to help in every situation and made the week enjoyable with all sorts of entertainment. The location was great too, 15 minutes from Zakynthos and 5 minutes from the beach. We were so happy with our 7 days this summer at Ionis Art Hotel in Laganas, Zakynthos. It was the best stay ever, and if we get the chance to return to this wonderful island, Ionis Art will be our choice.

The buffet meals, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, were delicious and plentiful. The room was clean and modern, and the air conditioning worked without any problems. The pool is fully compliant with a shallow depth. There’s a bar by the pool where the staff make delicious drinks.

For anyone hoping to relax, I strongly advise against the “standard” rooms. They’re outside the hotel in what seems like the worst possible spot, near discos and clubs. Until about 4-5 am, it felt like we were taking part in everything going on because the rooms aren’t soundproofed. Cleanliness and room quality were so-so, and I’ve stayed in much better places. I won’t accept that this is just the “Greek” standard. The offer photos seemed to differ “slightly” from what we actually found. Four stars? Are you kidding me?
