Vivian Hotel

We knew this was a party hotel, but that wasn't an issue for us in September. The room could use an update, and since it's self catering, it needs more facilities. The hotel itself is very nice, with excellent staff, a lovely pool, and a pleasant bar area where the food is good value.

Victoria and Natalie were so friendly, and the staff were lovely. Since it's a two-star place, we expected a dated room and basic amenities. It was clean, the aircon worked, and the pool and bar were faultless.

The bar was clean and tidy, and a nice spot for a drink. We only tried breakfast, which was okay. Towels and sheets were changed every other day, and bins were emptied daily. The pool always looked cloudy and poorly maintained. The rooms in the old blocks badly need updating. The furniture should be binned, and the mattresses were rock hard and stained with urine. The aircon was very cold, but we couldn't adjust the temperature, so we'd wake up freezing, turn it off, then switch it back on after waking up sweating. Don't pay for an upgraded room expecting a one-bedroom apartment. What we got was a kitchen with a camp bed in it. At £350 per person, it might be worth it, but pay more and you'll probably be disappointed. Cheap and cheerful, so keep your expectations low.

The one good thing for us was the location, just off the mini strip with a quick walk to decent places to eat. But after talking to other guests and reps, we heard there are much better hotels on the strip for the same price, so I'd avoid this one. We had to pay €140 for aircon, and couldn't get it without buying a safe that wasn't even in the room. The beds were like rocks, with one really bad pillow. The bathroom was disgusting, with a thick layer of dirt on the bath and shower, an awful shower, and silverfish everywhere. There are no room amenities, and although it's meant to be a party hotel, you can't make noise after 11pm. One day we didn't want the room cleaned after a rough night, so I told the cleaner it wasn't needed. Then a worker knocked, pushed me out of the way, said it had to be cleaned right then, and made us all leave. I also saw a worker emptying a bucket of some kind of fluid into the pool at 3am one morning, which looked a bit rotten.
