Lagoon View Apartments - Adults Only

Panos and Mary really look after you and bring that lovely Greek hospitality to a quiet, relaxing holiday. The apartments have stunning views, a pool, and a bar, and the self-catering rooms are comfortable and well equipped. Mary can make great food if you ask. We've already stayed before and are going again next year. We met lovely people and made great friends there. To see more of the island, you'll need a rental car, and there are so many places and beaches to explore, along with plenty of places to eat.

After we complained, we were moved to a very good, comfortable room, but there was no veranda or usable patio, and it felt very open, windy, and lacking privacy. We had no Lagoon view from either room. Although the apartments are advertised as "Lagoon View" apartments, it seems very few have that view, and not all have the gorgeous verandas people rave about. When we first arrived, we were given a poor, tired, dark room facing the car park, with no veranda or usable patio, even though we'd booked and paid for a superior room. We were then aggressively asked for $250 euros in cash, broken down as A/C 200, Safe 30, Tax 20. We asked for a receipt and were refused. Tui hadn't mentioned these charges when we booked. A previous review had warned me, so I'd asked for a car hire quote, but it was $700 euros for 10 days. I paid £250 myself. The room we eventually got was very good, clean, and well equipped.

The peaceful atmosphere and spectacular views are still just as lovely as before, and the pool is rarely busy, so there was no need to reserve loungers. We could also spend evenings chatting with other guests around the pool bar and restaurant, where Panos serves lots of drinks. He makes a great Pino Colada and G&T, my favourites. This was our 5th trip to Kefalonia and we always stay at Lagoon View, though we'd had a five year hiatus since our last visit in 2019. The place was even better than we remembered. Panos had made improvements, including a stylish new bathroom with a wonderfully powerful rain head shower, comfy beanbag style pool loungers, and a canopy that gives dappled shade along one side. Though it's self-catering, there's now a menu in the room and you can order Mary's delicious home cooked food with 24 hours notice. We've enjoyed many of her meals over the years, she's a star. A car is a good idea for the area, but if you don't mind walking, there are a couple of lovely Grill Houses in the village, just a couple of KM down the road, plus a mini market, cake shop, bakery, and pizza place. We walked to the village a few times, and one night walked downhill to the capital, Argostoli, which took about an hour. We got a taxi back, around €15 I think. We had a wonderful week and will see you next year, Panos and Mary ❤️

We spent 4 weeks in these comfortable, clean, well equipped apartments, tucked away in peaceful hills with lovely views across the mountains and lagoon. The pool and bar area is a lovely place to unwind and chat with other guests. It's a handy base for exploring up and down the island, and only a short drive into Argostoli, the capital. A car is essential here, and Panos can arrange one for you. His English is excellent, and he's always around to help or offer advice. He even arranged a doctor's appointment we needed. You can book an evening meal prepared by Mary, and her food really is delicious. Panos and Mary are a welcoming couple who went out of their way to make this another fabulous holiday for us.
