Villa Lakki The View

We spent our days dipping in the jacuzzi with a view of eagles hunting overhead, and the balcony looks straight out over Lakki village. Villa Lakki sits partway up the Lefka Ori mountains, a lovely base for getting away from the crowds and finding walks nearby. I'm home now and already want to return. The house was spotless and very well equipped, with wonderfully comfortable beds and two strong showers. In the village, Seli serves delicious Greek food, and the friendly locals gather at a few cafenions to chat over drinks. The owners were helpful and easy to communicate with. We had a really peaceful, relaxing stay at Villa Lakki, and the hot tub was a lovely extra. The view from this little mountain house was what we loved most. It was spotless when we arrived, well equipped, and the owners were very friendly. Check-in and check-out were easy too. The location made it simple to get to Chania city and the Omalos Plateau, with the Botanical Garden just around the corner and plenty of good tavernas within easy reach.

Lakki is an easy walk from the villa, with three good restaurants. It's a pretty, well-equipped place with a splendid view, and everything worked perfectly. The village feels a little sad, though: it once had several thousand people and now has only 300, mostly elderly. Parking is on a dangerous street, so you have to keep close to the wall. There are lots of steps up to the villa, and when we arrived the air conditioning wasn't on. After the climb we were sweltering, but once we switched it on the villa cooled down quickly. We absolutely loved the little lizards. They're outside, though they can come in, and they're very cute. ♥️

We were very disappointed, especially for €120 a day, plus €15 a day to heat the jacuzzi. Although use of it was free, the heating cost extra, and its constant noise came from right under the bedroom window. The room's alarm lit up blue with the slightest movement, and the bed was too soft. The fireplace didn't work, with what seemed like a spurious reason given. Access involved very steep stairs that would be difficult for disabled people. The place was set up for six, but there wasn't enough crockery. Even the welcome basket's supposed local products were industrial, including honey in plastic jars of just a few grams.
