Lasinthos Eco Park

We were impressed by the location and the views, and enjoyed the shop selling locally made products. Seeing how the items are made was a unique experience worth having. But we were concerned about the animals’ conditions. The rabbits had no hay and barely any room to move. We saw horses and donkeys with no visible shade or water, apart from a few trees. There seems to be enough land around the property to give them larger enclosures and better conditions. I’d recommend a visit for the scenery and local products, and I hope the owners use the available space to provide hay, shade, water, and more room. Nobody would want to be kept in such small cages without the basics.

We came across this place while visiting Crete. We didn’t stay overnight, but looked around and bought a couple of things in the shop. Everything for sale is made there, including ceramics, creams, and wine, and it was all so pretty. Everyone was super kind and explained things in English. If you’re nearby, I’d 100% recommend stopping in. You won’t regret it. Thanks again!

If you have little children, a stop to meet the animals might be worthwhile. But after staying in villages around the island, you’ve probably already seen plenty of farm animals like goats, chickens, and sheep. To me, this feels like a classic tourist trap, even though the prices aren’t exorbitant. There’s not much to see, especially if you’ve already passed other tavernas, textile shops, pottery studios, and more genuine, finer places on your way across Crete. I don’t think the “church” is real, since it has no altar. It looks like a church-shaped structure with some icons placed inside.

There are traditional workshops to try, including pottery where you can make your own pots. The owner is super friendly and made us feel comfortable. We had a very special breakfast here, made with their own ingredients, and it was delicious and very reasonably priced. You can also stay in cozy apartments near the farm, overlooking the village. A great place to visit for a day or two, and very cool and interesting to explore.
