Rigos Apartments

A peaceful place where we could properly unwind. Our 10 days at Rigos Apartments were lovely. The owners are friendly and helpful, and although the furnishings are modest, everything you need is there. It’s close to the beach and to the town, where there’s a cafe and several beachside restaurants. We recommend it to everyone.

It’s out in the countryside, so there’s quite a bit of walking to reach the lovely, quaint towns, but the setting is very peaceful and relaxing. The beach is about a 10 minute walk, and well worth it for the crystal clear, warm water. Bring strong bug spray, though, as the mosquitoes are out in force. There’s a great pizza place in town. My studio at Rigos was very clean, including the spotless mattresses. The bedding was crisp and white, changed during my stay, and the bins were emptied. Even the kettle was free of limescale. The balcony was lovely, and I really liked the beautiful varnished wooden ceilings. The back garden is well kept, with a lovely cat and chickens. Georgia and her husband are great hosts. Georgia has been quite unwell, yet still does an amazing job. She’s a lovely lady.

The owners were very friendly and helpful, and the apartment was cleaned daily, so it stayed tidy. We really enjoyed the charming place and the outdoor spot where the family could eat together. It’s easy to park if you have a car. A nice village with a lovely pizzeria is 10-15 minutes away on foot, and beautiful Gardenos Beach is a 15-20 minute walk. The facilities are basic. There’s no washing machine, the canvas wardrobe shelves are broken, one side of the stove didn’t work, and they could do with more cups, plates, and cutlery. The biggest letdown was being able to see a nearby swimming pool but not use it. The owner of the other hotel said they stopped letting guests from other hotels use it since Covid.

These are basic apartments with an authentic Corfu feel, run by Vasilis and his wife with help from their sons and daughter. They’re some of the kindest and most helpful people you could meet. When our airport shuttle didn’t show up, they drove us to another village and made sure the bus would wait for us. Nothing seemed too much trouble. There’s a nearby hotel pool they can make available. And make sure to eat at the local village restaurant, with tables all around the square.
