The hosts were very friendly and suggested lovely local restaurants and beaches. Lixouri, with its shops, cafes, and restaurants, is close enough to walk to. The apartment was clean and nicely equipped, with free, reliable internet and a washing machine that we used now and then. The upper apartment seemed to have a more spacious bathroom. Outside, there’s a large garden with olive trees and other plants, swings for small children, and a clear pool right in front. A local beach with umbrellas and sunbeds is very close, and the sea there is lovely and clean.

Fortis and Nancy were such welcoming hosts at Villa Ostria. Coming in after a flight and late-afternoon drive to find an amazing plate of moussaka on the kitchen table was a lifesaver. We stayed in the downstairs villa and weren’t really bothered by the family upstairs. The AC noise would cover quite a lot, anyway. The place had what we needed for a holiday, though there was a slight cigarette smell in the second bedroom. We aired it out and it was fine. The sandy beach and cafe were an easy stroll away, and we were glad we’d chosen this location. Lixouri and the regular ferry to Argostili are a short drive away, or a very long walk, though we saw people making the walk. Over ten days we explored much of the Lixouri side and the south and central areas. With our two-year-old, we loved seeing the turtles in Argostili harbour and visiting Vatsa’s sandy beach. The adventurous drive to Agia Eleni and Petani beaches was worth it, as was having ice cream on the pebbly beach in Assos village. Some of our best snorkelling was just off the local beach. We had a fantastic trip and will be back.

Our kids had loads of fun in the great pool and at the beach nearby. We had a wonderful holiday at Villa Ostria, and the hosts were friendly and helpful.
